Drug Use
Drug use occurs in an effort to relieve some form of pain, it may be physical but is often times emotional or a combination of the two.
This could be as simple as using alcohol or pot to avoid peer pressure as a teen, or the use of painkillers after an industrial accident.
Either way the drug is found to alleviate the symptoms.
The bigger the problem, the greater the discomfort and the more relief is sought. With continued
abuse the drugs begin to create mental and physical damage of their own and if continued unchecked the person’s life when sober is filled with despair and misery.

How does Narconon Arrowhead compare to other drug and alcohol rehabs?
We are a long-term residential facility where the individual progress is measured by results and not time spent.
Unlike some
drug and alcohol rehabs we are a drug free facility.
This means no substitute mood altering drugs or substances used in an effort to alleviate some other drug.
We follow this up with a full
detoxification program designed to remove the actual stored quantities of drugs and toxins from the body. Many short term
drug and alcohol rehabs deal mainly in getting the person clean and teaching him how to live as an addict or alcoholic. Narconon Arrowhead deals with terminatedly handling the
addiction or
alcoholism and giving the individual the skills, abilities, health, and personal certainty to live a drug free and productive life.
At Narconon Arrowhead we do not use the term
rehab patient when referring to our program participants. Instead we use the word “student” as it more accurately reflects what is occurring in our program. At Narconon Arrowhead once withdrawal from use is achieved and is followed by a full bodily
detoxification then student is then ready to gain the life skills and abilities needed to pursue a drug free productive life.
Cravings, guilt and depression must be confronted, dealt with, and eliminated is one is to achieve a lasting drug free existence.
These skills and abilities can be learned and successfully applied.

rehab services focus on regaining a drug free life. As soon as the person has stably withdrawn from drugs or alcohol, he is ready to start gaining the life skills he needs to deal with his problems, instead of wiping them out with drugs or alcohol. He or she must gain basic communication skills and an ability to confront his or her problems, people and life. He or she must also shed the pain and regrets of the past, and learn the practical life skills that make one able to maintain a drug-free life in the future. This is accomplished through the eight phases of the Narconon program.
